After graduating from a Big Ten University with a business
degree, I spent several years in retail management. Even though I enjoyed
the work, just like many others, I soon found that climbing the corporate
ladder had many unspoken disadvantages. Every time I received a promotion,
what little increase in pay I received, was far outweighed by having
to work longer and longer hours. Many nights and weekends were added,
resulting in many cancelled plans with family and friends. Looking

trend would continue, and perhaps even worsen. As I became more and

| When our children came into our lives, neither of us had any
doubts that one of us would stay home to raise them. It was as natural
a decision as breathing. However, having a stay-at-home Mom had a price.
